Maxine Gets Her VaccineSold Out
Maxine Gets Her Vaccine is a humorous, important and very timely book meant to help young children reduce their fear of getting their Covid-19 shots.
Maxine is a feisty little girl in the 4-8 year-old range, who questions everything she is told, and has to find out the answers for herself. She and her dog Jakey go through the covid year together bearing the frustrations of handwashing, playing puppy games and remote schooling. Maxine does everything in her power to avoid Jakey having to get a booster at the veterinarian’s, but sees him recover nicely. Then Jakey returns the favor when Maxine tries hard, but cannot override her parents decision that she must receive her covid vaccine shots. Maxine is so intrigued by her experience at pediatrician Dr. Gary’s and her easy recovery after the shot, that she decides to play doctor to educate her naïve friend who thought the Covid shots made people sick.
